So don't expect to see any spectacular race car, like this one, from Volvo.

"We're focusing on safety"
I'd like to think that the modern race car is a lot safer than some road cars.

That's what came right to mind for me as well.
The best way forward in safety is to improve on what is being done in top-level motorsport and make it commercially viable.

That's not a bad looking P1. Even though almost all of the P1s look the same these days with slightly different fronts.

If you think about it, Volvo built themselves on safety, just like Mercedes built thenselves on reliability. The whole point of tuned Volvos and AMG Mercedes was the sheer spectacle of a boxy sedan powering through the track at 150 MPH. It's hilarious. But then the companies tried to do it stock, and it's like the boring dad who tries to be hip. It's embarassing.
Good on Volvo for getting back to its roots of hilariously indestructible cars.

Incorrect. Motorsports are all about squeezing the most out of the least, and keeping occupants alive in the worst possible situations. Volvo, you're all about that
Also you'd better not because when we buy our next new car IT HAD BETTER BE POLESTAR BLUE

That's what happens when the rules mandate so much of the actual bodywork dimensions (like the giant fin).

Well, making cars doesn't really conform with their brand either. Perhaps they should shift focus to producing very safe refrigerators.
